Leo Dan, a well-known Argentine singer and songwriter, passes away at age 82.

According to the artist’s official social media accounts, Argentine singer and songwriter Leo Dan passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82.

“This morning, our beloved Leo Dan peacefully departed, surrounded by the love of his family,” the statement announced.

“On this day, January 1, 2025, we invite everyone who was a part of his journey and touched by his legacy to join us in celebrating his love, music, and life,” the message continued.

The legendary musician, born Leopoldo Dante Tevez, hailed from Villa Atamisqui in the province of Santiago del Estero.

During his illustrious career, Leo Dan recorded over 20 albums, balancing his work between his homeland, Argentina, and Mexico.

Deeply influenced by Mexican music, he collaborated with mariachi bands early in his career, producing several albums that were warmly embraced by Mexican audiences.

Additionally, he explored a variety of genres, including Latin pop, soft rock, and bolero, showcasing his versatility as an artist.

Along with Palito Ortega and Leonardo Favio, he was regarded as one of the principal representatives of Argentina’s so-called “New Wave” in the 1960s and 1970s.

“Celia,” “Fanny,” “Cómo te extraño, mi Amor,” “Libre solterito y sin nadie,” and “Santiago querido” are just a few of her finest songs.

“Te he prometido,” one of his well-known songs, was included in the critically acclaimed film “Roma,” directed by Alfonso Cuarón.

He received the Latin Grammy for Lifetime Achievement from the Latin Recording Academy in 2012.
